Let’s kick off 2009 the healthy way!

Join us at HealthStyles Exercise Equipment Park Meadows for a 2 hour workout and kick off party with a live DJ. We will begin the morning with a short motivational workshop about goal setting, motivation and nutrition. We will make special announcements about all of the FREE fitness events we will be hosting in 2009 as well as tons of ways to keep you motivated and seeing great results all year long.

We will be kicking off the HealthStyles Exercise Equipment Fitness Challenge with free samples and information from Runners Roost, MaxMuscle, Sunflower Market and Wahoo Fish Taco.

Anne Parker (HealthStyles Exercise Equipment’s Master Trainer) will be leading a group boot camp workout from 9:30 – 10:30am with TRX – Suspension Training, Kettlebells, Interval training and more!

All fitness levels are welcome!

If you are ready to step things up a notch in your training program or just looking to get started, this is the event that will get you motivated and give you the tools necessary to get started on the right foot!

Bring a blank notebook, towel, yoga or exercise mat, water and wear your workout clothes.

Interval training: Can it boost your calorie-burning power?

Are you ready to change things up in your workout routine to see results? Then try incorporating interval training in to your routine two times per week.

What is interval training?

Interval training is alternating intense bursts of cardiovascular exercise with lower intensity recovery periods of cardiovascular exercise.  For example, if you are on a elliptical machine or treadmill, you would increase your intensity (move faster) for 2 minutes and then decrease your intensity (move slower) for 2 minutes.  You will alternate between these two intervals ten times and then cool down (move slower) for 5 minutes.

Whether you are just getting started on your fitness routine or a seasoned veteran. Interval training can help you see more fitness results and decrease bordom during your cardiovascular workouts. (more…)

Weight Loss. How To Make it Stick This Time

I remember how excited a client was when we first met to discuss her desire to lose weight. Her excitement was that she managed to lose almost 20 pounds already in just 6 short weeks and her goal was to lose another 20 pounds before her high school reunion in approximately 5 more weeks.  Although I always invite enthusiasm to the first meeting as it makes it easier to help motivate the individual, in this case the problem became apparent immediately while assessing her recent weight loss program.
